Dragon Crest is a live action role playing game. This type of game is a combination of fantasy tabletop role playing games from companies such as TSR or Palladium, and live events such as medieval fairs and SCA events. The result is a fantasy game with monsters and magic, mock combat and adventure.

About once or twice a month each Dragon Crest chapter will run an event.
These events could be single day, module days or full weekend events.
Single day events usually start on a Saturday morning and run until around
10pm. Module day events usually run on Saturday and Sunday, each module
taking approximately 1-3 hours. Weekend events are run on an overnight
campsite (such as a YMCA or Boy Scout camp) and run non-stop from Friday
night to Sunday afternoon

Combat is simulated using boffer weapons and a point based damage system. A character would have a number of body and armor points, and the character would call a damage amount as he swings a weapon. Physical contact except with boffer weapons is illegal, and all weapons are safety checked. This type of combat is as safe as any other sport.

Magic and spell casting is simulated by saying a spell incant aloud and throwing a cloth packet filled with birdseed. If you hit your target the spell takes effect, otherwise the spell is wasted.

There are many different races available in the Dragon Crest campaign world. There are several different types of elves, dwarves, and humanoids, for a total of over 21 different character races.
